Santa Barbara DUI Expungement

Expungement

An expungement is a clearing of your record.  If you have plead guilty to a Santa Barbara DUI and fulfilled all requirements of your probation you may be eligible to file for a clearing of your record.  In an expungement, if granted, the court will remove your plea of guilty and enter a plea of not guilty.  This could be essential to obtaining a career through private employment.  Once an expungement is granted you will not have to disclose the information on a private employment application.

Most misdemeanors can be expunged, including a Santa Barbara DUI.  However, it is important to remember that not all crimes can be expunged and that an expungement does not completely erase your record.  You must disclose a conviction on any state licensing application or when applying for any state or federal employment.  In addition, an expungement does not completely clear a criminal conviction.  A Santa Barbara DUI that has been expunged does not prevent a subsequent DUI charge from being charged as a second offense unless it is outside of that 10 year washout period.

Our Santa Barbara DUI firm can assist you with all of your expungement needs.  Once you have completed all probation terms associated with your misdemeanor contact our Santa Barbara Criminal Defense firm for a free on-line case evaluation.
